Holiday Farewells

I’m sitting in a coffee shop, writing, listening to two women at the next table say goodbye and how great it was to see each other for about forty minutes. This was so nice! one of them has said several times. Then one of them asks about someone they know and they talk on. Oh he’s back in Germany, you know he grew up there and speaks both German and Spanish. Really? That is so interesting! And how’s…

I totally relate to this. It’s like saying goodbye after the holidays, when you have barely spoken to your relatives about anything other than food and playing board games (in my family, at least), and then you try to cram in all the other relevant news and gossip at the door when the bags are already loaded in the car. It’s always a good plan to try to leave early by an hour, especially if you have to catch a flight.

What are your thoughts?
