And we’re back…
I was pretty unhappy about having to write my previous post cancelling my cover reveal for No Promises Large Enough. But ultimately it was for the best.
I hired a company to do the cover for me, and I’m happy to report that I actually like it a lot.
Although it did take a couple weeks of working with them to get it right. The first thing they sent me did not work at all.
As in . . . there was a ninja on the cover.
There are no ninja in my book.
But we worked it out, and it’s pretty damn cool. And I tried really hard to not micromanage them. I’m not entirely sure I succeeded in that, but they were tolerant and gave me something that’s really good and fits the genre perfectly.
That genre is urban fantasy by the way. It took me some convincing to accept that. But it is. More on that in a later post.
I generally prefer illustrated covers, but I decided to go with stock photos just to see what they would come up with. I was worried about it, because as I said in the last post, I don’t generally like most stock photo book covers I see.
But they did a great job. I admit that the characters don’t look exactly how I pictured Akio and Masami, but they work well. I like it.
I hope you’ll like it too.
I’ll be doing a cover reveal here in a week or so. If you’d like to see it sooner, you can sign up for my mailing list here.
That’s it for today.
Stay safe. And look out for unwanted ninja.
