No Words Lately

I’ve spent a lot of time in bed these past few weeks, because of my surgery (which was for a hernia repair, FYI). I was frustrated that my recovery hit some unexpected bumps in the beginning, but I am feeling much better now. I’m still not supposed to carry the kid, but sometimes it’s been unavoidable.

My summer classes are pretty much wrapped up. Cultural Anthropology is done already, and I’m just finishing my final essay in Sci-fi Literature. So, I’ll be jumping back into The Wind on the Blade with a vengeance. I had so many assignments due these last few weeks that my Ghost and the Mask writing time has been almost nil.

I know that there are writers out there who don’t miss a day no matter what else is happening in their lives. I want to be like that, but I tend toward one-track focus. When I have a deadline for a paper or whatnot, that is all I can think about, and I spend all my available time working on that. I’d like to figure out how to make my writing time as consistent as brushing my teeth.

I have a month before fall term starts, so I’ll be able to get some good time in. We are, of course, moving during this time too, though, and there is a lot to do before we can physically move things in. Plus… I’m not supposed to lift things for at least a couple more weeks, which might work in my favor as far as getting some more writing time in.

That has also been frustrating too, been feeling pretty useless, but I am very much looking forward to being able to exercise again, get back to fencing and wushu and, of course, beat saber! First though, it will be moving boxes and furniture.

So, no words lately, but I will be turning my essay in today, and then I’m back, which I’m very excited about. School has been great, but getting my time in on my own writing always makes my day better. Without it, I really start to feel down.
